Printed and bound during a three-month residency at TYPA Centre, Tartu, Estonia, Puukiri / Uued Sōnad (Wood Type / New Words) displays wood type from the TYPA collection with words officially added to the Estonian language between 2008 and 2018. The book follows the Estonian alphabet in wood type with the new words printed from lead type. Wood type printed by Bonnie Loukus on an iron hand press using Soviet-inks mixed to colors inspired by buildings in and around Tartu. Lead type set by hand printed by Daniel Schneider using a Hohner Rapid II motorized platen press.
